In yesterday’s blog, which I had finished in the morning but did not “drop” online until late afternoon, I said that I intended to follow it up with a personal story about “Polly’s Folly.” But the Father—in His divine wisdom—had other plans, so poor Polly will have to wait, because…
(This is a modified and revised version of what our good friend, Kevin O’ volunteered to get posted on the Prayer Loop for me yesterday:)
Over three weeks ago my daughter, Lisa, who lives not far from me, suffered a fall while she was walking at night on a very slippery, muddy, stone and gravel all-wheel drive road on a mountainous slope.

She had numerous lacerations on her face, a deep wound on the bridge of her nose, her nose was broken, and a large lump on her forehead, which was diagnosed two days later (via x-ray) as a serious concussion.
She had headaches for 2½ weeks. Then, yesterday she had an episode (the second one in three days) in which she got white as a ghost, lightheaded, dizzy, numbness in the face, and this morning slurred speech. She was at her teaching job; I got a call from the school and was told the EMTs were rushing her to the ER at Mission Hospital.
Yesterday afternoon at the ER, they did a CAT scan and ruled out the biggest and scariest things: brain tumor/cancer, aneurysm, brain bleed, stroke, etc. but could not explain why the symptoms. All other things looked normal. Still, side effects from the concussion is the best guess.
She has a follow-up today with her primary care physician. She has been working two full-time jobs for about two years. I believe it might be the case that she is “burning the candle at both ends” and has too much stress from too much on her plate.
She assured me she would rest and stay unplugged from everything digital for 36 hours (except absolutely essential text messages, as from her dad and her fiancé). Please keep her in your prayers that she recover fully. Thank you!
As I tell her that she needs to get proper rest, I myself have found my own plate too full and thus I have been trying to back off from my too-many commitments. However, some cannot be ignored at this time (such as reporting to “uncle IRS.” God speed the day when that abominable institution along with its twin, the Fed, are gone for good!)
Hence, I need to get my SKM tax return done by this Friday—it is due March 17 because the 15th falls on Saturday. However, this weekend is my monthly trip to our SK Fellowship (SKF) gatherings in Tennessee and Georgia, so I want to have the SKM tax return in the mail by Friday. Therefore, this week is also lecture prep week...
Plus... I have five meetings/commitments between now and Saturday morning when I leave for our SKF gathering in TN. Other than that, there’s not much going on here, LOL!
