A tale of two counties

With apologies to Chuck—Charles Dickens, that is—author of the classic historical novel, A Tale of Two Cities. Written in 1859, but set at the time of the French Revolution ca. 1798, Dickens, through vivid character portraits, was contrasting life in Paris to that in London.

In our studied opinion, the French Revolution was fomented, instigated, and financed by the Illuminati, with their “front” man, the secretive Adam Weishaupt. “Spartacus” Weishaupt, as he fancied himself, however, was merely the errand boy and bagman for cabalistas organized by Maier Amschel Rothschild and his dozen or so other wealthy international banking families.

France was their test case, because their ultimate goal was to rule the entire planet. (Gee, sounds like what the Bible calls Mystery Babylon, n’est-ce pas?) The goals of the French Revolution are remarkably similar to those of the communists, who did not appear on the scene until a couple decades before Chuck was penning his classic novel. What does this have to do with us today in America?

It does indeed have much to do with life in America today because we are seeing the same playbook (strategies, tactics, and goals) of the communist Illuminati at work in our beloved land today (now under a host of different names).

Of course, the personnel and names have changed but the goals remain the same—in a few words, the destruction of all that is good, righteous, freedom and liberty-loving, and replacing it with an authoritarian, collectivist, totalitarian (and other descriptors) dictatorship. Total control over the masses by the self-selected elitist few is the end result.

That is why I am herewith submitting the stark contrast between two counties. You may likely find the same in your neck of the woods. The two counties are the two in Western North Carolina (WNC) with which I am very familiar, Buncombe and Henderson.

When we first moved to WNC in 1987 we rented for many years and lived in several homes that were within the Asheville city limits. Asheville at that time was an attractive “Paris of the South,” as some magazines called it. Streets were relatively safe and the government was a mix of Democrats and Republicans.

But over time, radical Dems overtook the City Council (7 Dems, 0 Republicans), and the city government has been “woke” radical Left (communist) for the past few decades. During the George Floyd riots, “Black Lives Matter” was painted on the streets in front the city and county buildings down town. Maybe it is still there; I try to avoid going into Asheville.

Long before that, we had moved out of Asheville proper and lived in rented houses in several locations, north, south, east, and west of Asheville, but still in Buncombe County. In 2006, we had scraped together enough money to make a down payment to buy a house, and we crossed the southern boundary of Buncombe County into Henderson County, but within the town limits of Fletcher which abuts the county line.

What a difference! Until Hurricane Helene I still had my office in Asheville, and despite my Buckeye-friendship with the landlord there, we are so very pleased with our new office space in Fletcher. The SKM office is in a couple buildings which happen to be owned by former Conservative Congressman Charles Taylor and his family.

I shall now illustrate some of the differences by the use of snapshots of some recent headlines in a conservative bi-weekly newspaper. The owner-publisher is a friend of mine. (And given the name of his newspaper, yeah, I did ask him if he liked reading Superman comic books when he was a kid. He readily admitted it.) Here’s part of the front page from the July 1 (Asheville) edition.

What it boils down to is that if you live in Buncombe County, you get a property tax increase, and if you live in Asheville, you get a property tax increase on top of the county tax increase. Now let’s compare that with the headline for the July 1 (Hendersonville) edition.

Despite the massive losses due to the Hellish Hurricane Helene, in Henderson County, there are no property tax increases! Yay! But in the sidebar box, we see that the liberals who now outnumber conservatives on the Hendersonville City Council have not increased taxes, but they have increased certain fees, such as water and sewer. We have our work cut out for us here to prevent Hendersonville from becoming like Asheville.

Thankfully, since the accession of Donald Trump back into the Presidency, there are noticeably beneficial effects visible here. For example, here is the top headline of the same July (Asheville) edition, telling of the firing of the UNC-Asheville dean of students, Megan Pugh, for admitting to quietly pushing diversity, equity and inclusion (i.e., communist) policies.

She was caught in an undercover investigation and video-recorded saying, “I mean we probably still do anyway, but you gotta keep it quiet.” She was also quoted as saying, “I love breaking rules.” Yep, just like all anarchists and communists. Good riddance!

Next, we have the sidebar article (above) about Karen Price, an administrator at Western Carolina University (in Cullowhee, about 90 minutes southwest of Asheville). Commie Karen was fired after secretly video-recorded comments by her came to light. Her comments reflected her goal of embedding DEI across every area at the university.

In a statement, a WCU spokeswoman said that in 2024, WCU dissolved its DEI office in compliance with UNC Policy directives. In May 2024, the University of North Carolina Board of Governors voted 22-2 to eliminate its DEI program from the system’s 16 campuses. Yay! That further points out how very important it is to work at the state level also to insure that common sense conservatives are dominant on any and all statewide boards, commissions, etc.

Finally, our friend, State Sen. Tim Moffitt is taking a cue from Elon Musk’s DOGE team to establish such an operation at our state level. Way to go, Tim. Keep up the good work!

Go thou and do likewise, dear readers! For when Christians stay in the bleachers, the wicked are on the playing field and destroying everything we hold dear!
