Confusion about food and beverages.
I apologize that in both the February FMS cover letter (our monthly postal mailing) and in one of my early blogs about the Conference my wording was mistaken. One of our sharp correspondents noticed the wording and called it to my attention with this email from her. QUOTE: Hey James,
After reading your newsletter and seeing again the warning about not bringing food or booze into the Embassy Suites, I called them. I specifically asked if there are fridges and microwaves in the rooms, and she said yes.
Long story short, we MAY bring food and booze into our rooms from home, just do not take it outside the room such as into the room where we meet to hear the speakers.
Some of us have strict diets and bring our own food for health reasons, or we bring back the leftovers from our restaurant and want to heat it later, and I told Olga that. She agreed and wanted to know who gave us the crazy idea that they banned ALL food and beverages. I did not tell her, but thought you may want to clarify for your readers. See you in Chattanooga,… END QUOTE
Thank you, sister, for calling this to my attention and I doubly thank you for not revealing to Olga “who gave us the crazy idea…”
In that early blog and in the February FMS cover letter I was paraphrasing from memory from the Contract I had signed when I wrote the following, but I had mistakenly omitted the portion in all CAPS:
“No outside food or beverages permitted IN THE MEETING ROOM SPACE otherwise SKM will be assessed fees. No guest may bring or remove any alcohol from the premises.”
I should have just copied the Contract verbatim. It says this: “It is important to note that outside food and beverage is prohibited in any portion of meeting room space at the Hotel.” (Emphasis mine.)
- ROOM SHARE: At this point, we have one gentleman seeking to share a room. Any takers? Please contact me by email [ james@stonekingdom.org ] and we will put the two of you in touch.
- MUSICIANS and/or SINGERS Daniel Galbraith has volunteered to coordinate musicians and/or singers who wish to bless the Conference with your talents for praise and worship times. If you would like to offer your services in that regard, please contact both me (email address above) and Daniel at his email address: DanielG153@pm.me
- Daniel also asked me to inquire among the attendees whether anyone has an 88-key keyboard which they could bring along and lend for his use at the Conference. If so, please contact Daniel.
- NOTIFICATION OF ATTENDANCE: It will also be very helpful if you let me know if you are even thinking or planning to attend so that I can tell the hotel how many chairs and tables should be set up in the meeting room. Please notify me by email or snail mail: James@StoneKingdom.org (not case sensitive). You can also cancel a reservation up to “x” many days before the event. Inquire at the reservation e-portal or by calling the hotel directly to find the value of “x”.
We are greatly anticipating this Chattanooga Embassy Conference. Don’t forget the SKM Group Rate cut-off date of March 5th. Make reservations now. Click the blue banner across the top of the home page for a page linking all previous posts about the Conference.
