Hi Folks, Juan here,
Imagine the calm… breath it in… the light breeze. The subtle fragrances of grass, flowers, morning dew and… you breathing it in. In the distance, the occasional birds winging across the sky and the first rays of light as the morning sun provides its golden hour of optical clarity and polarized splendor. A large digital clock glows in the distance counting down minutes and seconds in anticipation of the spectacle ahead. The now, very nearly imminent, launch of one of the space shuttles. I’ve had the pleasure.
So much goes into any space launch it’s almost unfathomable. Tens of thousands of people are planning, designing and testing the payload; preparing every tiny component of the launch vehicle. If any one of the tens of thousands of parts fails it could delay, cancel or destroy a mission.
No weak links can or should be allowed anywhere. The crew and backup crew training and retraining primary and secondary scenarios of ‘what if’s’; no single or multi-point failures allowed. Millions of ‘man hours’ of people’s lives condensed down to long seconds and mere minutes.
As the clock display moves into single digit minutes, the assembled crowd becomes more focused, and the assemblage of people begin to shuffle back to their assigned seats. An occasional horn will be heard blasting final warnings as announcers proclaim last minute details.
Those tiny commotions pale instantly as visible sparks begin gushing near the base of the rocket at “T -10” seconds. Those sparks are technically identified as ‘Radial Outward Firing Igniters’ (ROFI’s). Lots of disinformation has been spread by the ill-informed media and armchair rocket scientists concerning those pyrotechnics otherwise also known as ‘sparkler’s.
Their purpose is to light any traces of hydrogen gas that may have leaked and invisibly pooled at the base of the rocket in the final moments before main ignition which (experience has proven) can pose a problem.
The sparklers definitely will get your attention but they do not light the hydrogen propellant coming out of the engines, that is done internally in each of the three main engines as they start in sequence, about 120 milliseconds apart, just as the liquid hydrogen propellant starts flowing simultaneously at exactly “T -6” seconds from launch! At that instant a lot still must happen before the release of the vehicle and its actual liftoff.
Enormously strong bolts hold the body of the rocket in four strategic places on the sides of the solid rocket boosters (SRB’s) located at each side of the main hydrogen fuel tank which the shuttle is attached to on its belly. Amazingly, all that sizzling energy is firmly held in place while computers analyze and cross analyze the start and performance of each of the engines as they come to life.
The nano seconds turn to milliseconds as the myriad network of sensors and computers throw data at each other at the speed of light; simultaneously, human controllers confirm that all three engines have started and every other mission critical system confirmed to be operating correctly.
During these long moments, if anything anomalous occurs, there is a long moment (in a world of nanoseconds) when the launch sequence can still be stopped and aborted, but most of the ‘decision tree’ of information and reactions will have been gamed out and pre-programmed into computer systems long ago; the likelihood of stopping the launch at this moment while still possible, is extremely unlikely. This is especially true because of all the checks and checkpoints which occur long before the moment of the first main engine ignition.
If everything checks out and as the countdown reaches “T -0” huge explosive lightning-like detonations occur simultaneously at the four large bolts holding the solid rocket boosters in place. Most people never actually notice this minute detail while watching a space launch.
Compared to the speed of light, the explosions are very slow and take several microseconds to fully clear the bolts from continuing to hold the rocket down. Timing is excruciatingly critical now because in nearly the same instant but in actuality a fraction of a moment later the ignition sparks arrive at the solid rocket boosters nozzles; when that happens…!!!?!!!…….nothing, BUT NOTHING!!!, can stop what happens next!
Unlike the liquid hydrogen fuel which can be cut off or throttled down ... once the solid rocket fuel begins to burn in the SRB’s, there is no off switch; It’s a type of controlled explosion.
Each booster pushes 3.3 million pounds of thrust out of its nozzle; if anything with the bolts were to hang up, it would tear the entire vehicle and crew to shreds and most likely blow apart in what would be the equivalent of a small nuclear blast. All the explosive energy of the solid rocket's fuel is directed in one direction while pushing the ship forward in the opposite direction.
No matter what else happens over the next two minutes the solid rocket fuel is going to burn until exhausted and gone; everyone involved must just hold on as the show accelerates to over 6,000 miles per hour at over 30 miles high above the earth and 25 miles downrange where the solid rocket booster bodies each detach and eventually parachute back to the sea where they were collected, rebuilt and used again.
As a spectator, the crowd falls away from your thoughts as the light show begins. Light travels at 186,282 miles per second; that’s the equivalent of circling the earth about seven and half times in one second. In the press and VIP areas located approximately 3.5 miles from the launch site you hear and feel nothing unusual yet you SEE the vehicle completely lift off the ground and start to climb away well before the first sounds and vibrations begin to arrive about 15 seconds after main engine ignition.
The vast majority of in-person spectators are arrayed alone along the highways located five to seven miles away and for them the launch is instantly visible but the sounds arrive 30 seconds to a full minute after liftoff. The sensual and physical perceptions a person experiences are very interesting (to me at least) because there is a build up.
You first see the intervening waters and even the atmosphere itself rippling as the sound, heat and shock waves begin to emanate away from the launch area. Birds take to flight far and near but in your personal space nothing apart from the visuals has changed.
If you’ve experienced such a launch previously, you clench a bit because you know what’s coming next; if not, or in either case, you’ll never forget it…the vibrations are amplified by the bleachers and assembled knee-knocking of the humanity around you; if your so privileged.
After the first soft shock you are front and center for the main event… the solid rocket boosters crack the air like a whip and with a roar stop all transient conversations. Nobody looks away as the initial blasts settle into a rolling and thunderous percussion of sounds crackling and holding your gaze.
Within half a minute you can no longer can see the vehicle itself but only the vaporous trail and intensely burning light of the main engines and solid rocket boosters augmented by the diminishing but still furious sounds of our heaven sent missionaries of technology…the aspirations, dreams and energy of millions of God’s Children reduced down to a handful of souls aboard the ‘now spacecraft’ and hundreds of others scattered about at ground control and various other support locations.
Tina Peters
As many of you may have noticed, for the last 2 months I have not spoken or written concerning Tina Peters status except in the briefest terms and in the context of continuing to pray.
This was done in response to a request that I specifically needed to give space to Colorado Governor Polis so that any action (positive or negative) by him concerning Tina would not ‘appear’ to be merely reactionary.
He (and his advisors?) apparently were intent that he would not appear to be ‘giving-in’ to pressure from the conservative/Republican community and/or specifically to President Trump from the White House..
Privately, President Trump has (reportedly) frequently been in contact with Governor Polis. There has been a steady flow of information concerning those calls reaching the public and alleging that the Governor was amenable to issuing some type of pardon or clemency type action which would free Tina; even as he refused to honor the Pardon issued by President Trump.
Other legal actions have continued apace which appeared to be indicative of some type of imminent federal intervention by the Federal courts that would otherwise free Tina.
Ultimately however, it’s still crickets, as Tina’s health continues to degrade. As recently as the beginning of this week, President Trump posted another in a series of messages to Governor Polis, “Free Tina”.
Inexplicably, just days ago, a Former Colorado State Senator Sonya Jaquez Lewis, who is a Democrat, was sentenced after being found guilty of the same crime that Tina Peters was convicted of. She got probation, plus a $3,000.00 fine which will be waived if she does 100 hours of community service.
The disparity in sentencing is beyond glaring (let alone the fact that Tina is not guilty of any ‘crime’ while Sonya absolutely was). Governor Polis has been intoning over the last two days that he wants to address this imbalance between Tina’s incarceration and Lewis’s probation.
The real question in part is ‘when’ and under what conditions. Several key players in the Colorado political system as well as the Democratic Party Leadership in DC have been very vocal in response to Governor Polis’s comments this week.
They say that because Tina is unrepentant, and her ‘crimes’ are so severe, a pardon or clemency would send the wrong message to any others who might be thinking of interfering with the election processes during the mid-terms.
As recently as one day ago, people very close to Tina’s case were very comfortable that Tina would be out of prison as soon as this weekend but, that does not now appear to be likely short of a miracle.
President Trump knows as well as anybody that Tina truly is a ‘Political Prisoner’.
Governor Polis appears to waffle on the issue of penitence on the part of Tina; before she will be freed by him, he wants/needs her to admit the crime(s) and plead for mercy on the way of a pardon.
There are a number of reasons why Tina’s conviction will and must ultimately be overturned due to the fatally flawed investigative and trial processes and procedures all through her case..
In the meantime, in any normal world she should and would have been afforded the opportunity of staying free either on Bond or personal recognizance pending the outcome of the appeals process; for PURELY POLITICAL reasons this has not occurred in her case.
Let me segway for a moment to other related issues and then come back to Tina.
Recently, most communications from in and around the White House by people who are directly involved in matters related to the coming 2026 mid-term election processes have been curtailed. The persons reviewing the 17 page Executive Order which President Trump has stated that he intends to sign soon, have ceased.
Some (even ‘good guys’) have intoned that something has gone horribly wrong and ‘now we’re really in trouble’. I say ‘Uh huh, okay’ and ‘you know this how’?. Let me help everyone here. Do not be so easily dismayed or thrown off! We are not at the brink of failure and melt down!
The Democrats are absolutely NOT on the cusp of a MONUMENTAL electoral win in 2026; in fact, the exact and totally opposite is the truth, the whole truth and NOTHING BUT THE TRUTH!!!
We are about to be VIP level witnesses to one of the greatest judicial, political and military spectacles in the history of the Nation(s). Very shortly there will be an arrest (not Hillary) and a steady release of information regarding the theft of 2020 election which will challenge EVERY LAST ONE OF THE POLITICAL AND MAINSTREAM MEDIA’S ELECTION FRAUD DENIAL SPOKESPERSONS!
The public will see the traitorous politicians and their mainstream media cohorts in all their god awful nakedness as the election deceptions crumble! Both President Trump and Tina will be more than vindicated right from the outset!
In fact, I propose right now that ultimately Tina should be nominated by everyone here for the Congressional Medal of Freedom for her selfless actions and perseverance in the whole matter.
For those who are paying attention, the single digit minutes are about to disappear from the clock as we traverse to mere seconds before the launch begins; the sparks and sparklers are about to begin in earnest.
Even then, the general public (Governor Polis, I suggest you consider this very closely) has no real concept of just how dramatic and all-encompassing the next minutes will be, not just locally or within our otherwise small political circles but actually worldwide.
Others have learned at great expense that President Trump makes his best deals up front, once clock reaches the zero hour and times up… consider all previous conversations to be an opportunity lost. For a brief moment, there is still time to stop the inevitable; civil rights are not bargaining chips.
If we were flies on the wall… I bet President Trump is saying something similar to Governor Polis as what he has told others previously just before the clock ran out; it’s now or never, we won’t be waiting forever, this must end.
As for Tina, I don’t think she has come this far just to roll over and say uncle and admit to any untruth about her actions in order to gain her freedom no matter how painful the consequences may otherwise be.
Let us all prayerfully consider our valiant sister in this most trying of moments… and our President as he weighs his next actions once the first solid arrests light up in America’s new morning, there is no off switch; nothing, N O T H I N G, can stop or slow what’s coming after that first arrest.
