Barley in the Bible, part 20
We are continuing to expound the following verse as it can be applied to our modern Christian-Israel people in America. We had previously explained two ways in which it is fulfilled in our nation today.
Judges 6:4 And they encamped against them, and destroyed the increase of the earth, till thou come unto Gaza, and left no sustenance for Israel, neither sheep, nor ox, nor ass.
A third way that the increase of the earth is being destroyed—how we are being consumed by the locusts—these bad actors are known as the corporate raiders—people like Carl Icahn, Ivan Boesky, Michael Millken, Saul Steinberg and others.
These corporate raiders were much in the news in the 1980s as they were buying up America’s corporations with borrowed billions in what are called leveraged buyouts and other financial methods.
After they obtained control of a targeted corporation, they then proceeded to dissect the hapless company into a hundred parts and sell off the parts individually, all for their own personal profit. Because they have borrowed the billions to take over the corporation in the first place, what do they leave when it’s all done? They leave a bankrupt corporate shell.
Eastern Airlines is a good example. Frank Lorenzo bought control of it and they’re going to end up bankrupt, too, if my guess is correct. Of course, when corporations go bankrupt, it usually forces thousands of workers to the unemployment lines.
Now do not misunderstand me, I’m not here to defend corporations per se. I realize these are not biblical organizations and this is perhaps God’s way of bringing them down.
He is sending the locusts, the Carl Icahn’s, the Ivan Boesky’s, and the others to do the work, but our Christian-Israel people are paying the price for our disobedience to divine law. We end up in the unemployment lines. We end up chasing the ends and trying to make them meet.
Since those days of the famous corporate raiders there have been a number of books written about their wily machinations, including the following:
Raiders of Wall Street by Eric W. Allison was first published in 1986 and it delineates the reasons for the success of fifteen corporate raiders, such as Ivan Boesky, Carl Icahn, and Saul Steinberg, showing what they started with and the strategy they used to build their fortunes. I have not read that book so I cannot tell you if the author reveals what I believe are the real reason for their success (given below).
Ditto for this second book on that subject. The Titans of Takeover by Robert Slater was first published in 1987. One blurb describes it as the story of “the men who in the 1980s discovered great financial opportunities in seizing control of someone else’s business, often at bargain prices.
“With millions of dollars at stake, these raiders aroused massive public attention and, depending on point of view, were for a while either the villains or the saviors of American business.
“The book looks not only at the raiders, but also at other featured players in the takeover game: the investment bankers, attorneys, and arbitragers. Profiled in these pages are the leading figures in the American takeover field, including T. Boone Pickens, Carl Icahn, Saul Steinberg, and Ted Turner as well as such behind-the-scenes personalities as lawyers Martin Lipton and Joseph Flom, investment bankers Joseph Perella and Bruce Wasserstein, and arbitrager Ivan Boesky.”
For more on Ivan “the Terrible” Boesky, here are a few short excerpts from an essay which explains some of the financial shenanigans used by the Boesky and his fellow corporate raiders.
QUOTE: What the public did not know was that Boesky’s fabled skills in picking the right corporate stocks were supplemented by insider information. [In other words, he was cheating and stealing—surprise, surprise!]
Since the 1930s, the U.S. government has sought to prevent insider trading, where an insider of a corporation buys or sells stock while in possession of non-public information.
Insider trading, if successful, allows a person to reap a large profit or avoid a steep loss, depending on the type of information. The federal Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) issued rules that prohibit insider trading and made it a criminal offense.
In 1986 Boesky admitted to the SEC that he had illegally traded on information obtained from an employee at the securities firm of Drexel Burnham Lambert, which arranged the financing of many takeovers. He paid the SEC $100 million, half as a fine for insider trading and the rest in illicit profit repayments.
Boesky also agreed to provide federal regulators and prosecutors with information about others involved in the scheme. He named Drexel employee Michael Milken as a member of an insider-trading network that had earned hundreds of millions of dollars during the 1980s. This information eventually led to Milken’s conviction on insider trading charges. END QUOTE Here is the source of these quotes.
Regarding insider trading, it is now common knowledge how so many politicians go to Congress relatively or quite poor, and within a very short time are multimillionaires. E.g., Nancy Pelosi, Ilhan Omar, and literally scores of other “public servants.”
In recent years, many Americans are learning that Congress has long ago exempted themselves from insider trading. They may have passed a law to do so, but that does not make it lawful and moral according to God’s law.
My question regarding the corporate raiders and insider traders is that although some of them got caught and paid fines and spent a little time in the hokie, why were they permitted to keep ANY of their ill-gotten gains?! They should have been stripped of all their wealth and made to pay back double or more per God’s laws on theft!
While I was putting this message together [in 1991], I was recalling how people call me a conservative. I understand what they mean, but in the interest of truth and accuracy, I reject that label. (Nevertheless, it is almost unavoidable in daily conversation, since there is no time to explain my reasons.)
I prefer not to be called a conservative, because when you look at the meaning of the word, there is almost nothing I want to conserve about America’s present (Mystery Babylonian, anti-God) system.
Moreover, I really don’t want to return to the system we had over 200 years ago, because, while it was good, it was not the kingdom of God on earth. It was a good start, and we started out fairly well as a Constitutional republic, but there were snakes and tares among us from the beginning. (Alexander Hamilton is one example about whom we have taught much in our recent lectures for our CD Ministry).
Thus, we have fallen from that governmental ideal of a Constitutional republic—into a swamp, to use a term current in 2026. Obviously, none of us wants to conserve that.
The wicked always lie, cheat, and steal. About everything—including words. They obfuscate and lie by trying to change the meanings of words. They falsely called themselves “liberals.” When their true colors have shown through with that lie, they then began calling themselves “progressives.” That happened in the early 20th century and it has happened again.
Hillary Clinton described herself as a progressive in 2016. She and the other collectivists are fake progressives. In reality, they are regressive, trying to grab control of the helm of government and enslave the citizens just as tyrants have done throughout recorded history. That is going backwards; they are regressives.
In the true sense of the word, I am a progressive, and I would guess most of our readers are likewise. We want to progress onward into the kingdom of heaven on earth. That calls for God’s biblical system of law being established in all institutions and aspects of our society
In Bible prophecies, many names are used to describe the end time captors and conquerors of Israel: e.g., Egypt, Babylon, and Assyria is another one of them. Just as our people went into the Assyrian captivity in 721 B. C., so again in Bible prophecy, we find the Assyrians are just one of the many names used to indicate our captors and rulers in this era.
We recognize that this prophecy by Isaiah had an initial fulfillment in the decades after the prophet Isaiah wrote it, but it is clear to many Bible students that prophecies can have multiple fulfillments and this one certainly fits our era. Isaiah wrote:
KJV Isaiah 10:5 O Assyrian, the rod of mine anger, and the staff in their hand is mine indignation.
6 I will send him against an hypocritical nation, and against the people of my wrath will I give him a charge, to take the spoil, and to take the prey, and to tread them down like the mire of the streets.
Read that slowly…is that not a very accurate description of our predicament today?
The prophetic Assyrian nation is the rod of chastisement in the hand of the Almighty. They are the stick with which our God is punishing the hypocritical nation—His chosen people, Israel. They/we are described as “the people of My wrath.” The prophetic “Assyrians” are employed by God to punish Israel for their/our gross disobedience to His commandments, statutes, and judgments.
So just as in Joel regarding the locusts, God is here again saying that He is sending this enemy against us to bring us down. Verse 7 is very interesting,
Isaiah 10:7 Howbeit he meaneth not so, neither doth his heart think so; but it is in his heart to destroy and cut off nations not a few.
“Howbeit, he meaneth not so,” or to paraphrase it: “however this is not his intention.” The “his” refers to the Assyrian who is unaware that he is doing this at God’s bidding. In other words, if you go out and ask the “locust” if he is trying to destroy America, he’s going to say, “well, no, I’m here because I love freedom and free enterprise and I just want to run my little business here.
(To bring it up to 2026: “I just want to run my Minnesota Children’s Learing Center, or my Autism Care Center, or my Food for Refugees Center. Our U.S. Representative Ilhan Omar is fully behind our operations... as are our Mayor Jacob Frey and Gov. Tim Walz. Of course I’m not trying to destroy America.”)
In other words, in the minds of the prophetic “Assyrians,” or in this case, Somalians, they would deny that their purpose is the utter destruction of our nation, but God says that is exactly their intent.
The Assyrian does not even know why he’s doing it. They’re just doing what comes naturally, “naturally” being what God has programmed them to do. Patently, God has programmed them to be destroyers, hasn’t He?
Now we go back to the book of Judges chapter 6. I will start in verse five again.
Judges 6:5 For they came up with their cattle and their tents, and they came as grasshoppers for multitude; for both they and their camels were without number: and they entered into the land to destroy it.
In light of our recent exposition of this verse, we can now understand that (the alien invaders, the locusts who are now within Israel) they entered into the land to destroy it, even if many of them did not know that that’s why they were here. Of course, as we had just read in Isaiah, chapter 10, so now here in Judges 6,
Judges 6:6 And Israel was greatly impoverished because of the Midianites; and the children of Israel cried unto the LORD [Yahweh].
Notice the order of events here. Number one, after the Israelites had gotten lazy and fat and began to worship other gods, then comes the oppression. Secondly, some folks—patriotic people who see what is going on—they make plans to hide or to avoid the oppression as best they’re able.
They move out of the cities and leaving the hyper-segregated Chicago’s and Baltimore’s and Cleveland’s and Detroit’s. They move out of the cities, they head for the hills, whether it’s the Sierra Nevada’s, the Cascades, the Ozarks, the Appalachians in the northeast or the Smokies in the southeast.
There they build homes and/or survival retreats, at least if they have the money to do so, and they get prepared to fight if necessary, like they’re preparing in South Africa now and like many of our people are doing now in the 1980s and 90s.
Then, after a while of doing the survivalist (now called “preppers”) thing, many of the patriots see that it’s quite futile. They come to recognize that they can do everything possible, but in the end, the numbers of the antichrists (prophetic Assyrians) who control nearly all realms of government, the DoJ, the FBI, CIA, IRS, etc., and even many local SWAT teams and so forth—they realize that the forces arrayed against liberty-loving patriots are simply overwhelming.
At that point, many of those whom we today call “red pilled” realize that God is our only hope. There is no place left to turn except to the God of the Christian Bible, our God, Yahweh. And thus the children of Israel—now Christianized over the millennia begin to cry out unto the God of Israel, Yahweh-Jesus, for deliverance from our oppressors.
So when they cried unto God, they were then fully confident that God was immediately going to deliver them. But does He? No!
