Things are going reasonably well with the move. Jesse has been dismantling all the Information Technology (IT) equipment and boxing it carefully for transport after the heavy pieces of furniture are in their new and proper locations. (I am composing this from my home office.)
Sandy has just finished packing up my entire library. It was well over a week of work. She is now carefully wrapping the library shelving to prevent damage during transport to the new office location.
We have a commitment from two younger men to come to the office on Monday afternoon (after their day job) and help us get the bookcases, desks, and other heavy stuff moved to the new office in Fletcher. My sibling brother, John, whom some of you know from our conferences, is taking some time off to come up and help out on Monday and Tuesday—or more, depending…
A friend already (yesterday) made available to us his cargo van to use (presumably for the duration) and so Sandy and I moved about 25 boxes of books to the new location late yesterday afternoon. The new office is “the upper room.” It is 20 stairsteps to the second floor and that does get tiring.
I was waiting at the new office this morning for the technician from the internet company to arrive and get us hooked up. Should have been a 30-minute job, but there was no signal and he discovered someone (perhaps the previous tenant) had cut the AT&T cables! So Pedro, the friendly techie, had to drill a hole in the exterior wall and run about 80 feet of new cable, essentially rewiring the service for us.
That’s all for today. Please keep us in your prayers, especially that none of us overdoes it and ends up with back strain. Thank you!
