In a few days, the Republican National Convention (RNC) will commence in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Beginning on Sunday, July 14th, thousands of delegates, their spouses and other family members, and their friends. Along with non-delegate local, state, and national political office-holders, and other Republican Party “movers and shakers,” they will all be congregating in various hotel venues around the convention center.
Next week will be an exciting week to watch! I have a greater appreciation of what goes into such an undertaking because I was privileged to be one of our county delegates to the North Carolina Republican Convention held in Greensboro, NC this past May 23-26.

There was only a smattering of controversy as our Convention proceeded but it was very minor, in my judgment, compared to the fiasco being caused by the RINOs in Missouri with them trying to replace the non-RINO, Missouri state delegates to the Milwaukee RNC.
We have detailed the situation with the stories from our friends, Joe and Chrissy, who were there and have kept me abreast of the continuing saga, such as the recent story which appeared in the Gateway Pundit, a solid conservative online source.
This will be the first of perhaps several blogs in which I will give more details of our NC State Convention. For today, I shall give a brief overview and some general highlights.
We checked into the beautiful venue on Thursday afternoon. I met up with some of our Henderson County delegation and enjoyed a nice dinner. There were three categories of attendees, as designated by our badges: delegates, alternates, and guests; plus NCGOP staff.

Due to my SK Fellowship travel schedule last March, I had missed the 2024 Henderson County Convention, and thus had to go through a tedious process to get approved as a delegate—but that’s another story.
At 7 p.m. many of us attended the Kick-off Event. The NCGOP Chairman, Jason Simmons (who had previously served directly under now-National GOP Chairman, Michael Whatley), introduced the Kick-off speaker, Kash Patel!
For readers not familiar with the breadth of this man’s understanding of what’s really going on, here is a bit of his background borrowed from his website.
QUOTE: Kash served multiple senior roles in government, most recently as the Chief of Staff to the Department of Defense (DoD) and Deputy Assistant to President Trump. As the Chief of Staff at DoD, his responsibilities included implementing the Secretary’s no fail mission with our 3 million plus employees, operating a $740 billion budget, and $2 trillion in assets.

In his capacity at the NSC, Mr. Patel oversaw the execution of several of President Trump’s top priorities, including eliminating Al-Qa’ida and ISIS senior leadership, and safely repatriating dozens of American hostages. As the top counterterrorism official at the White House, he was responsible for creating and implementing our nation’s policy to safeguard the homeland by overseeing the interagency implementation of the national CT strategy.
Before joining the NSC, Mr. Patel served as the National Security Advisor and Senior Counsel for the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence (HPSCI), [headed by Congressman Devin Nunes, who now heads Trump’s Media Empire—JWB] where he spearheaded the investigation into the Russian active measures campaign to influence the 2016 presidential election (Russia Gate).
The investigation discovered numerous illegal surveillance measures undertaken by the Department of Justice and the Federal Bureau of Investigation to unlawfully spy on the Trump campaign.
Concurrently, he led congressional oversight of sensitive programs for the IC [Intelligence Community] and the U.S. Special Operations Forces and worked to enact legislation to fully fund the multi-billion-dollar budgets supporting intelligence and counterterrorism operations worldwide. END QUOTE
Kash gave a very enthusiastic and encouraging speech outlining the current national situation and challenging everyone to get our friends and neighbors involved—not to “save our democracy,” (ugh! Let the Dems fight for that.) but to save our Republic!
One of the points he stressed the most was that election integrity is equally important with getting out the vote. Amen to that! Kash’s address to the crowd was warmly received with a standing ovation.

P. S. This meme just came in from one of our regular correspondents and I slid off my chair laughing. It helps to kick-off this July weekend with a bit (or a lot) of humor to offset Faux Joe’s (de-) press (-ing) conference from the NATO summit yesterday.
